Collection description
This dataset contains (i) Annual Maximum Flow (AMAX) and (ii) catchment properties for 842 river catchments in the Philippines. These data were used to estimate flood discharges, which are also included in the dataset.
AMAX data (in m3/s) were compiled from three sources: (1) SWS: “Surface Water Supply of the Philippine Islands” (Irrigation Division, 1923-4) 1908 – 1922; (2) BRS: “Bureau of Research Standards”, later transferred to the Bureau of Design, also under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH); and (3) Cagayan: the “Feasibility Study of the Flood Control Project for the Lower Cagayan River in the Republic of the Philippines” produced by Nippon Koei Co. and Nikken Consultants Inc. in collaboration with the DPWH in 2002.
Catchment properties were extracted using the database described by Boothroyd et al. (2023). Flood estimates were calculated using the methodology described in the accompanying paper.
