Collection description
This research study explored child- and family-based interventions for healthy eating and physical activity among ethnic minority children in the UK, using a developmental dataset collected in schools and places of worship. The dataset included assessments of children’s dietary and physical activity behaviours, knowledge of health guidelines, and qualitative feedback from parents, teachers, and community contacts. Findings highlighted cultural influences on lifestyle, gaps in awareness (e.g., physical activity recommendations), and barriers such as limited access to traditional foods and concerns about local environments. Interactive intervention sessions were tested to address knowledge and skill gaps, with high participation and positive feedback, providing a culturally informed evidence base for designing acceptable interventions.
