Socio-economic variations in the provision, quality and perceptions of play areas in Glasgow

McAdam, C. (2026) Socio-economic variations in the provision, quality and perceptions of play areas in Glasgow. [Data Collection]

Collection description

This PhD study examined socio-economic variations in Glasgow’s public outdoor play areas using a multi-methods dataset. It included GIS mapping of play area locations, objective quality audits of 100 play areas across high, middle, and low deprivation quintiles, child qualitative data from 62 “draw-and-write” activities and four focus groups with P6 pupils, and adult qualitative data from interviews with seven maintenance staff and two parents. The dataset combines spatial, observational, and qualitative measures to explore provision, quality, and perceptions of play areas.
