Topographic point cloud of a bedrock reach of the River Garry, Scotland

Williams, R. , Reid, E. and Roberts, K. (2022) Topographic point cloud of a bedrock reach of the River Garry, Scotland. [Data Collection]

Collection description

This dataset is an x,y,z point cloud of the topography of a 130 m long bedrock reach of the River Garry, Scotland. The Ordnance Survey Grid Reference of the reach is 272748,769981. The beds strike roughly perpendicular to the direction of river flow. At the time of survey, the bedrock was exposed on both sides of the river, with shallow water filling the centre of the channel. Gravel deposits, ranging from pebbles to large boulders were moderately to poorly sorted and located on the outer bank and in dips between beds. The reach was surveyed on 9 June 2016. A Leica C10 Terrestrial Laser Scanner was positioned at seven stations to survey the reach. Data were registered using the conformal transformation methods using known overlapping point targets (n = 7). The targets were positioned using Real-Time Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System (RTK-GNSS), relative to an established point.
