Collection description
HCV Research UK is a consortium of clinical and scientific researchers from across the UK, which has recruited approximately 12,000 individuals who were infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV). Individuals gave consent for their data and samples to be utilised for research purposes. The clinical, sample and research data are held in individual databases that are linked by an overarching application that allows selection of data based on an extensive range of clinical phenotypes and demographics. Applications for access to data and/or samples is required for approval of release; all applications are considered by the HCV Research UK Tissue and Data Access Committee (TDAC). Following approval, a formal agreement is agreed between the University of Glasgow (the Managing Party for HCV Research UK) and institutions representing the applicant(s). Access to data and samples also requires costs to be covered for preparing data and selecting samples.
