This dataset contains four subsections all of which have been uploaded so that any other researchers can scrutinize use the data and methods presented in this MSc thesis: Appendix A - Descriptions of zircons used in this study which have been placed in an excel file (four files). Appendix B - Photographs taken of zircon grains through a scanning electron microscope and presented in .pdf files (four files). Appendix C - A copy of all data obtained from mass spectrometer analysis of zircons presented in excel files (two files). Appendix D - A copy of all the new geochemical data obtained for this thesis placed in an excel file (one file). Appendix E - A copy of a modal-batch melt model used in this thesis placed in an excel file (one file).
