Appendix 5 - MATLAB Code - Supplementary Materials Thesis Title: From Pixels to Policy: Quantifying Watershed Landscape Characteristics for Integrated Watershed Management in The Tectonically and Volcanically Active Island of Sumatra, Indonesia Author: Muhammad Attorik Falensky OVERVIEW This repository contains the MATLAB code used as supplementary material for the thesis listed above. The code supports the processing and analysis of geomorphometric data and the subsequent statistical classification of watershed landscape characteristics. The repository contains two supplementary materials: 1. Supplementary Materials 1 - Batch Geomorphometry Processing.mlx 2. Supplementary Materials 2 - HCPC Process.mlx CONTENTS Supplementary Materials 1 - Batch Geomorphometry Processing This MATLAB code is used for the batch processing of geomorphometric data. It facilitates the automated processing of multiple datasets to derive the geomorphometric parameters required for the research analysis. File: Supplementary Materials 1 - Batch Geomorphometry Processing.mlx Supplementary Materials 2 - HCPC Process.mlx This MATLAB code implements the Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Components (HCPC) process. The procedure combines Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with hierarchical clustering to support the classification and interpretation of watershed landscape characteristics. File: Supplementary Materials 2 - HCPC Process.mlx REQUIREMENTS - MATLAB (version compatible with the code - 2025b) USAGE The supplementary materials should be used in conjunction with the methodology and descriptions provided in the associated thesis. Please follow the instructions and comments provided within the MATLAB scripts regarding input data, processing steps, and expected outputs. RELATIONSHIP TO THE THESIS These MATLAB scripts constitute supplementary computational materials for the thesis and are provided to support the reproducibility, transparency, and documentation of the computational procedures used in the research. The code specifically supports the processing of geomorphometric information and the HCPC-based analysis used to quantify and classify watershed landscape characteristics across Sumatra, Indonesia.
