Research project title: Mental models of the organisation of scholarly information across the Academy: disciplinary similarities and differences

This dataset was produced in 2023 for a qualitative doctoral research project based at the Universities of Glasgow and Oxford. Data were generated through interviews with 40 active researchers from the disciplines of chemistry, history, law, and medicine, representing a range of career stages from postdoctoral researcher to senior academic. The dataset reflects a diverse set of subfields within these disciplinary areas.

This dataset consists of two folders: participants’ drawings and interview transcripts. Drawings were produced at the start of each interview in response to the prompt: “Please draw your discipline.” Interviews followed a semi-structured format.

A sample consent form and interview protocol are also included.

These materials were generated as part of the author’s PhD thesis at the University of Glasgow, submitted in 2025.
