Instructions for data relating to the PhD Thesis "Not going to university: context-based rationality, with links to social class and rural location in the decision-making of school leavers in Scotland The following is included in the data set Survey Results (Excel): This includes the raw data from an online survey of school leavers in 2021 and 2022 and collects information about their background and career choices and was used to provide descriptive statistics for context for the interviews. Identifying information has been removed to uphold ethical consent. It also includes the charts and tables I extracted from the data. Thematic Analysis Data (Nvivo) This includes the following: Transcribed interviews - Initial interviews at the time of leaving school, 6 month interview after leaving school, 12 months after leaving school, 18 months after leaving school, 24 months after leaving school Coded Interviews - The above interviews with codes Coding Matrix - The codes developed and their corresponding data extracts Theme Maps - Demonstrates linkages between codes in building the themes. I have included all the above so as well as the interviews themselves some insight can be gained by seeing how I developed the codes and corresponding themes. The Theme Maps show the development of themes over time.
