These datasets are the outputs from two experiments conducted in the Combined Smart Energy Systems (CoSES) laboratory at the Technical University of Munich as part of the PhD of Orestis Angelidis. The experiments aim to experimentally validate novel hydraulic design and control philosophies for 5th Generation District Heating and Cooling Networks. One has fixed grid return temperatures (TGridFix) while the other free floating grid temperatures (TGridFloat). Both feature decentralised variable speed pumping and a centralised passive balancing unit aimed at alleviating control instabilities arising from pump hunting. Experiment TGridFloat was conducted on 19 Jul 2023 and experiment TGridFix was conducted on 20 Jul 2023. The datasets include 69 variables with a 1 second timestep for a total of 72,000 seconds (20 hours). The following .csv files are present in this repository: - Index: Includes a description of each variable found in the experimental output files. - TGridFix: Includes the outputs for the fixed grid temperatures control regime experiment. - TGridFlaot: Includes the outputs for the variable grid temperatures control regime experiment. This work was artially funded by the Energy Technology Partnership (ETP), Ramboll (including contributions from both Ramboll Foundation [grant No. 2020-101] and Ramboll UK) and the University of Glasgow under grant agreement ETP 189. The work of Daniel Zinsmeister and Ulrich Ganslmeier was funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Germany (FKZ: 03EN3032). The construction of the CoSES laboratory was supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) through the project “Flexible reconfigurable microgrid laboratory” under project number 350746631. The booster heat pump transfer station was funded by Stadtwerke Neuburg an der Donau.
