Data used for the paper ‘Time- and energy-resolved effects in the boron-10 based Multi-Grid and helium-3 based thermal neutron detectors’. The data were collected during a two week period in September-October 2019 at the V20 beam line, HZB, Germany. Three different detectors were used: the Multi-Grid detector, a helium-3 tube, and a beam monitor. The details of these detectors, as well as the experimental setup, is outlined in the corresponding paper. The data below are sorted by detector, and the experimental condition is described for each file. Experimental condition of files, sorted by folder: multi_grid_detector: File: ’mvmelst_135_190930_141618_Det1_overnight2_30x80_14x60.zip’ Description: Multi-Grid detector, non-coated radial blades, in direct beam File: ‘mvmelst_141_191001_120405_He3InBeam_overnight3.zip’ Description: Multi-Grid detector, non-coated radial blades, blocked by Helium-3 tube File: ‘mvmelst_165_191002_111641_Det2_overnight3.zip’ Description: Multi-Grid detector, coated radial blades, in direct beam File: ‘mvmelst_169_191003_075039_Det2_He3InBeam_overnight4.zip’ Description: Multi-Grid detector, coated radial blades, blocked by Helium-3 tube helium_3_tube: File: ‘2019_09_HZB_He3InBeam54304s_overnight.lst’ Description: Helium-3 tube in direct beam (measurement duration: 54304 seconds) beam_monitor: File: ‘Coated_radial_Blades_overnight_measurement_Fermi_Chopper.bn4ch1_bin400.asc’ Description: Beam monitor data from measurement with Multi-Grid detector, coated radial blades, in direct beam File: ‘He_3_tube_Fermi_Measurement_overnight2_thursday.bn4ch1_bin400.asc’ Description: Beam monitor data from measurement with Multi-Grid detector, coated radial blades, blocked by helium-3 tube File: ‘overnight2.bn4ch1_bin400.asc’ Description: Beam monitor data from measurement with Multi-Grid detector, non-coated radial blades, in direct beam File: ‘He3_overnight_Fermi_Chopper_measurement.bn4ch1_bin400.asc’ Description: Beam monitor data from measurement with Multi-Grid detector, non-coated radial blades, blocked by helium-3 tube, and helium-3 tube in direct beam (the two files corresponded to the same measurement, hence, they have the same beam monitor data) How to read files: multi_grid_detector: The data is stored in a binary format, and requires the following analysis code to interpret it: https://github.com/ess-dg/mg_analysis_notebook/blob/master/scripts/mg/file_handling/read.py helium_3 tube: The data is stored in a binary format, and requires the following analysis code to interpret it: https://github.com/ess-dg/mg_analysis_notebook/blob/master/scripts/he3/read.py beam_monitor: The data is stored in ascii-format. The first column is time-of-flight in milli-seconds, the second column is number of counts.
