Glasgow, 15 June 2016 This is a README file for the two datasets 'NEA_reducedDatabase.dat' and 'trajectorySolution.dat'. This is to be considered as an attachment to the following manuscript: Peloni,A., Ceriotti,M., and Dachwald,B., 'Solar Sail Trajectory Design for a Multiple Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous Mission', Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, submitted on 02 March 2016. Both the datasets have been created with the Tabs delimiter between columns. =========================================================================== NEA_reducedDatabase.dat --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This dataset represents the reduced datatbase of Near-Earth Asteroids (NEAs) taken into account. As mentioned in the manuscript, the reduced database is made of Potentially-Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) and NHATS objects. The ephemerides of the objects have been taken on 08 August 2015 from NASA's Near-Earth Object Program website (http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/neo_elem). The objects part of the NHATS list have been taken on 08 August 2015 from the JPL/NASA NHATS website (http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/nhats). The column headings description is following reported as from NASA's website. Object - Full designation of the target NEA. a - Semi-major axis of the orbit [au]. e - Eccentricity of the orbit. i - Inclination of the orbit with respect to the ecliptic plane and the equinox of J2000 (J2000-Ecliptic) [deg]. Node - Longitude of the ascending node (J2000-Ecliptic) [deg]. w - Argument of perihelium (J2000-Ecliptic) [deg]. M - Mean anomaly at epoch [deg]. Epoch - Osculating epoch of the elements given as modified Julian date [MJD]. H - Absolute V-magnitude [mag]. EMOID - Earth minimum orbit intersection distance [au]. Class - Object classification: AMO="Amor",APO="Apollo",ATE="Aten",IEO="Interior Earth Object". A trailing "*" indicates the object is also a PHA. =========================================================================== =========================================================================== trajectorySolution.dat --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This dataset represents the whole solution of the multi-leg trajectory shown in the Results section of the manuscript. The column headings description is following reported. t - Time given as modified Julian date 2000 [MJD2000]. X - X-component of the position vector in the Heliocentric inertial frame [km]. Y - Y-component of the position vector in the Heliocentric inertial frame [km]. Z - Z-component of the position vector in the Heliocentric inertial frame [km]. Vx - X-component of the velocity vector in the Heliocentric inertial frame [km/s]. Vy - Y-component of the velocity vector in the Heliocentric inertial frame [km/s]. Vz - Z-component of the velocity vector in the Heliocentric inertial frame [km/s]. Nr - Sail normal unit vector in the direction of the thrust - Radial component. Nth - Sail normal unit vector in the direction of the thrust - Transversal component. Nh - Sail normal unit vector in the direction of the thrust - Out-of-plane component. ===========================================================================
